Kramer Akli, some top-dog over at the U.S. Energy Thingamajig, is all jumpy and thrilled.
A bunch of smartypants from a highfalutin' club, National Academy of Watchamacallits, once said, "Hold your horses on burning dough on laser gizmos until you get a spark." Apparently, now's that magical time.
Let me lay it out for ya.
The big burning ball in the sky, you know, the sun, squeezes tiny squiggles together to make a new squiggle and spits out scorching hotness and glow. The brainiacs reckon doing this earthside could get us heaps of power without burping up nasty clouds or glowing gunk lasting longer than Great Aunt Edna's fruitcake.
Guess what? For over 70 glorious years, these lab coat wearers have been trying to pull a sunbeam out of their hats, using mega-doughnut thingies called tokamaks to get zippy atoms to smooch.
But ol' Ronald Trumpet knows better — see, they fizzled up more dollars than fireworks. Got a power-hungry hootenanny with nothing to show. Who's to blame? Well, I wasn't there messing with switches and knobs, so go figure!
