When I heard about Navied Mahdavian, the so-called cartoonist, and his wife, Emelie, the filmmaker, moving to a small town in Idaho, I thought, "Here we go again, another clueless couple invading the countryside." Their grand idea? To revive the local theater. But let me tell you, folks, it's been nothing but a disaster.
Mackay, Idaho, with its measly population of 473, certainly didn't need these artsy-fartsy types trying to change things up. The theater had been closed for years, and honestly, I don't blame the residents for not being too thrilled about the revival plan.
Sure, the Mahdavians claimed they wanted to bring back the good ol' western movies, but instead, they went for some pretentious film called "Damsel" from 2018. Can you believe it? A movie with a feeble male lead and a self-pleasuring scene. That's not what the people here were expecting!
Needless to say, the townsfolk were less than impressed. This cowboy renaissance turned out to be a complete disaster. The Mahdavians thought they were bringing culture, but all they did was cause an uproar.
If it were up to me, I would have done things differently. I'm not a fancy filmmaker or a cartoonist, but I know what this town needs. We need the good ol' classics. John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and all the real heroes of the wild west. None of this new-age nonsense.
But hey, what can you expect from these city slickers? They're out of touch with reality. They think they know better, but they only end up ruining everything.
It's time we put an end to this cowboy moment and bring back the true spirit of the west. No more artsy-fartsy nonsense. Just good old-fashioned western movies that will make this town proud.
As for the Mahdavians, well, maybe they should stick to their day jobs. Leave the cowboy business to the real folks who know what they're doing.
