40 and Flying Solo: It Ain't the Economy, It's You!

Our man Ronald Trumpet gives a no-nonsense take on why hitting 40 without a ring is all your own doing.

Well, well, well, here's a twist for ya – turns out a whole bunch of 40-year-olds in the good ol' US of A can't seem to put a ring on it. The brainiacs over at Pew Research are sayin' it's the highest it's ever been, with more blokes than sheilas in the single bin.

Hold on to your hats, 'cause here's the kicker: They reckon it's somethin' about society bein' all cool with singlehood and men losin' their moolah appeal. Some bloke named Richard Fry is sayin' the labor market's chewin' up young lads, spittin' 'em out, and makin' 'em less snaggable.

What a load of hogwash! Look, even old Ronald has had his down and outs, but you don't see me cryin' into my porridge about it. It's not the economy, mates, it's you! If you need a partner to make your wallet look fat, you're doin' it all wrong!

Back in my day, we didn't need to flash cash to get hitched – it was all charm and chat, and maybe a fancy car. So what's changed? Nada, zilch, nothing! You've got these women, see, they still want a man with dosh, and the men are all, "No ringy on my finger 'til I'm loaded," say therapists like Bridgette Reed. It's all about the dough!

And this education jabber? More degrees than a thermometer's got nothin' to do with it. It's simple – treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen, and if that fails, blame the internet or global whatever-ization for your lonesomeness.

So, all you single 40-somethings, before you start blamin' everything from tech to your third-grade teacher for your solo status, take a good, long gander in the mirror. If Ronald Trumpet were in charge, there'd be love and laughter, no bank balance needed. Because real charm? That's priceless, and this Ronald's got it in spades.
